Marimekko Mini Unikko plywood tray 31 cm

This lightweight tray, made of birch plywood, features the Mini Unikko pattern in light brown and beige tones. The natural pattern of the birch plywood shows through the Mini Unikko print, including visible wood grain and variations in tone. The wood grain makes each tray unique.

Unikko was born in 1964 after Marimekko’s founder, Armi Ratia, had publicly declared that Marimekko would not print any floral fabrics. Maija Isola paid no attention to such restrictions and, in protest, designed an entire series of bold floral patterns. One of them was Unikko, whose story has inspired many of us over the years. It stands as a fine example of the power of creativity, courage, and belief in oneself.

Charity, Vamos Youth Service of the Deaconess Foundation

The Vamos units of Diakonissalaitos across Finland have been supporting young people aged 16-29 in challenging situations for years. Many things can complicate the lives of young people, such as mental health issues, interrupted studies, unemployment, substance use, homelessness, or challenges within their close circles. Each young person starting at Vamos is assigned a dedicated worker who provides unhurried support for daily life and future planning. In addition to individual support, young people are welcome to participate in group activities if they wish, where they can find peer support and make new friends. In 2024, on average, half of Vamos clients continued their studies or successfully entered the job market.

Over 2,000 young people participate in the activities annually. Vamos Youth Services employs approximately 100 staff members in 11 locations: Espoo, Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Kuopio, Lahti, Oulu, Rovaniemi, Siilinjärvi, Tampere, Turku, and Vantaa.
